We want you to know who we are because in today's world you don't always know who it is you are doing business with. We aren't a mega corporation. It's just us scratching to make a living just like you. We are US citizens, but our travels take us wherever the story is, particularly wherever the dive story is.
We do three things: we host travelers, we travel, and we write about both.
We own and operate a small lakeside resort in Texas that consists of twenty cabins, RV sites, and boat rentals. The lake attracts a few divers, mostly certifications. Our primary guests are families and couples just trying to get away from the hustle and bustle of Dallas/Ft. Worth. We have owned the resort since 1998.
We started traveling together 35 years ago. We have camped, hiked, climbed, caved, and cruised at every opportunity, but it's never enough. Our list of untraveled roads is a long one.
We always photographed our journeys, but it wasn't until he got his hands on an underwater camera that Gary really developed his passion for imagery. He has an eye for composition and the patience required to capture the shots that often define a dive.
He shoots, I write, together we edit.
My work has been published in four guidebooks published by Falcon Publishing: The Rockhound's Guide to New Mexico, Rockhounding Texas, Camping Colorado, and Camping New Mexico.
Together we publish a series of travel journals called, Notes to Self Books, including a series of dive logs. Check those out on Amazon.
I have been published in magazines nationally and regionally, both in the US and abroad.
Our online work is quite extensive. We became experts in using a blog to provide enhanced content for our resort website long before the term "content marketing" became popular. Our resort website and blog are at www.lakewhitneycabins.com
I write guests posts for Falcon Publishing at www.falconguides.com.
We write about general travel and life behind the scenes at a resort at www.betravelhappy.com
We sincerely believe that you will find what you are looking for on this site. Whether you are a diver looking for a life-altering dive destination or a tourism professional looking for customers, we plan to provide you with the tools you need to make it happen. Please feel free to let us know how you feel and to share your own dive stories with us through comments on our posts.
